Online Therapy in Wisconsin
Your calendar is already full. Between work, family and everything else you carry, adding a drive to an office every week can feel like one more thing. Online therapy lets you get real support from wherever you are in Wisconsin, whether that's your home office, your parked car or your couch after the kids are in bed.
I'm Katie Nickel, a therapist based in Brookfield, WI. I offer secure online therapy to adults anywhere in Wisconsin for burnout, anxiety, depression and ADHD.
Signs online therapy might be a good fit
Online therapy may work well for you if:
Your schedule makes it hard to get to an office
You live outside the Brookfield, Waukesha or Milwaukee area
You feel more comfortable opening up from home
You have ADHD and transitions or travel time get in the way
You're a parent who needs sessions that fit around family life
You want consistency even when work or travel changes your week
What I help with online
Everything I offer in person, I offer online:
Burnout therapy: when you're exhausted and running on fumes
Anxiety therapy: racing thoughts, constant worry and tension
ADHD therapy: executive function, time blindness and overwhelm
Depression therapy: feeling flat, numb or empty
Burnout is often what clients feel first. In therapy we look at what's underneath it, often anxiety, depression or ADHD, and work on that directly.
How online therapy works
Sessions happen over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll get a link before each appointment. All you need is a private space, a reliable internet connection and a phone, tablet or computer. Sessions are 50 minutes, just like in person.
Because of licensing rules, you need to be physically located in Wisconsin during each session. If you travel out of state, we'll plan around it.
How online therapy helps
Online therapy follows the same evidence-based approach as in-person sessions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy and nervous-system regulation tools. Many people find it just as helpful, and some find it easier to be honest from the comfort of home. You'll still leave each session with something practical to try.
What to expect
Start with a free 15-minute consult by phone or video. If we're a good fit, you'll complete intake paperwork through the secure client portal, and we'll schedule your first session. Prefer to mix it up? You can meet in person at my Brookfield office some weeks and online others. Read more about what to expect.
Cost of online therapy
Online sessions cost the same as in-person sessions: $150 for 50 minutes. I don't accept insurance. I can provide a superbill you may be able to submit for out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan. Sessions are generally HSA/FSA eligible. See fees & insurance.
